BUYING GUIDES
The table is your starting point. Shape, proportion and sightlines matter just as much as the finish.
Measure the table and make a simple note of the space around it. A light that works over a generous dining table may feel oversized in a narrow room, while a tiny shade can disappear above a large surface.
Use the full product dimensions rather than the photograph alone. Photos of individual lights do not show their scale relative to one another. A paper template held in the space can be surprisingly useful.
A round table often sits comfortably under a single centred light. A longer table gives you the option of a linear fitting or more than one smaller pendant. Consider where existing ceiling points are and whether the room needs a single focal point or a repeated rhythm.
Linea spreads light along a long table. Halo leaves the centre visually open. A pair of Astra shades creates two focused pools. These are different lighting effects, not simply different styles.
An opaque shade conceals the bulb from some angles and sends light downwards. Clear glass keeps the fitting visually light but leaves the bulb visible. Opal glass is useful when you want an all-around glow.
Avoid selecting the hanging height from an image alone. Ceiling height, shade size and seated sightlines all matter. Have your electrician confirm a suitable installation for the specific room.
Check the lamp holder, bulb inclusion and dimming notes. Choosing a dimmable fitting does not automatically make an existing switch compatible. Confirm the complete combination before installation, then enjoy a table that works for dinner and everything around it.
Product examples refer to the fictional LUME collection. Confirm specifications and installation requirements with a qualified professional for a real project.
